We subscribe to the Chicago Tribune, the Kankakee Daily Journal, and the Herscher Pilot. Current issues remain in the library during the school day, and past issues are retained for several weeks.
We have a "Please Buy Me" form that students may use to request books. We make every effort to honor student requests, as long as the request falls within our selection guidelines and budget.
Are students allowed to come to the library during Learning Lab periods?
A
Yes, students are welcome to come to the library during Learning Lab for quiet study, research, reading, and computer use as long as space allows. However, classes scheduled in the library for research always have priority over use of the library.
What if there are too many students in Learning Lab wanting to come to the library?
A
Students with yellow passes from teachers will be given priority in signing up for the library from Learning Lab. It may be that students have to take turns signing out for the library. Efficient use of time and resources while in the library is required because of the heavy demand for its resources.
What is the library policy regarding cell phone use before and after school?
A
The HHS Library is a place where students and staff go to research, read, use computers, and study. Out of consideration for the needs of other people, use of cell phones during library hours (between 7:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. each day) is not allowed. Students and staff wishing to make cell phone calls before and after school should leave the library.
